Restaurants & cafes

Almost every visit to a restaurant, cafe or coffee shop website is the same visit. Somebody is on a phone, deciding between you and two other places, and they want three things in this order: the menu, whether you're open, and how to book or order. If any of the three takes more than a few seconds, they're eating somewhere else and you'll never know it happened.

The most common failure is a menu that's a PDF. On a phone a PDF opens in a separate viewer, loads slowly, and lands zoomed out to unreadable. Google can't read it either, so none of your dishes exist as far as search is concerned. It's one decision, and it costs covers every night.

I build restaurant, cafe and coffee shop sites around a real HTML menu that loads instantly and is readable at a glance, hours that are correct everywhere Google shows them, and reservations or ordering that finish on the site rather than handing the customer to a platform that charges you for the privilege.

Built for the job

What a restaurant's website has to get right

A menu that's not a PDF

Real text on a real page, readable on a phone without pinching. It loads instantly, and search engines can actually read your dishes and prices.

Hours that are right everywhere

On the site, on Google, and on the holiday Monday. Nothing loses a customer faster than turning up to a closed door your website said was open.

Reservations without a middleman

Bookings that complete on your own site. Platforms are useful for discovery and expensive as your only route, especially for the regulars who were coming anyway.

Photographs of the plates and the room

Stock food photography is obvious and it makes people trust the rest of the page less. Real plates sell dishes, and a picture of where somebody would actually sit sells the visit.

Ordering and takeout that pays out to you

Direct ordering keeps the margin the delivery apps take. Even a share of orders moving across is money that was previously somebody else's.

Wired into Google Maps

The Business Profile and the site carrying the same hours, address and phone, so you appear in the map pack and the tap lands somewhere that loads on one bar of signal outside your own front door.

The case

Why a restaurant site is decided in ninety seconds

The decision is made standing up

Your visitor is on a sidewalk or in a car with three tabs open. Every second of loading and every extra tap is a chance for them to pick one of the other two.

Your menu is your SEO

People search for dishes, not just for restaurants. A menu Google can read puts you in results for every dish you serve. A PDF puts you in none of them.

The platforms are renting you your own regulars

Commission on an order from somebody who already knows you is pure cost. A site that takes the booking directly turns that back into margin.

How customers find you

The searches your site needs to win.

I set up your Google Business Profile and local SEO so you turn up for the searches your customers actually run, backed by a site built to earn the click.

FAQ

Restaurants & cafes web design, answered.

Do you build websites for restaurants, cafes and coffee shops?

Yes. I build websites for restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, and bars. A menu that loads instantly on a phone, hours that are right everywhere Google shows them, and reservations or ordering that finish on your own site. Two weeks to launch.

Why should my menu not be a PDF?

Because a PDF opens in a separate viewer, loads slowly on mobile data, and lands zoomed out to unreadable on a phone, which is where nearly every visit happens. Search engines also can't read it properly, so none of your dishes appear in results. A menu built as a real page fixes all of that at once and is just as easy to update.

Can customers book a table or order on the site?

Yes. Reservations and takeout ordering can both run on your own site with payment attached, so you keep the margin a delivery platform would take. Where you also want to stay on a booking platform for discovery, the two can run alongside each other.

Do you set up our Google listing and Maps?

Yes, on every build. It's where most people decide where to eat or get coffee, so the profile is claimed, categorized and filled in, and the hours and address on it are the same ones the site carries.

How do I keep my hours correct?

Hours are set once and carried through the site and your Google Business Profile together, including holiday hours. It's the most common thing a restaurant site gets wrong, and it costs you the customer who drove over.

Do I need professional food photography?

It helps more here than in almost any other business, because people are choosing what to eat by looking. Stock food images are recognizable as stock and they make the rest of the page less believable. I shoot food and rooms in person, and it's quoted with the build.

How much does a website cost for a restaurant?

Most restaurant and cafe sites come in between $2,100 and $10,000, paid once, with the quote back within 2 days. Adding online ordering with payments is quoted on top of that.

Are you a web designer or a website developer?

Both, on the same project. Design is how it looks and what it says. Development is the code underneath: how fast it loads, whether it holds up on a phone with two bars, and the parts that actually do something, like booking, payments, and forms that reach you. The website design and the code are the same job here, which is what makes a two-week launch possible and means you always reach the person who built it when you want something changed.

What does website design and development actually include?

Everything between the first call and a site that's live and bringing in work: the design, the writing, the photography if you want it, the build, hosting, a Google Business Profile, and the search setup that gets you found. One quote, one invoice.
