A website isn't finished at launch. Prices change, services get added, a photo needs swapping, and somebody has to be watching that the whole thing is still up and still fast.
A care plan covers that. It's optional: hosting can equally be set up in accounts that belong to you, paid directly, with changes quoted as they come up. Plan prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude HST.
Nothing quietly expires.
Certificates, dependencies and domains all renew on a schedule somebody is watching. The failure mode of a site nobody looks after is not a crash, it's an expiry nobody noticed until a browser started warning visitors away.

Fast hosting, certificates renewed, and the domain kept pointed where it should be. Nothing for you to log into.
Edits
Text me the change and it's done, usually the same day. New prices, new hours, a new service, a photo swap.
Backups
Taken automatically and kept off the server, so a bad day is an inconvenience rather than a rebuild.
Monitoring
If the site goes down I find out before you do, and usually before a customer does.
Kept current
Dependencies and certificates updated on a schedule, so nothing expires.
No lock-in
Cancel and the site is still yours. Nothing stops working and nothing gets held.

Is a care plan required?
No. Hosting can be set up in accounts that belong to you and paid directly, and you keep full control. The plan exists so that it can be somebody else's job.
What if I need a change and I'm not on a plan?
Send it over and it gets quoted. Small changes are usually small numbers.
What counts as an edit?
Content changes: text, prices, hours, photos, a new service, a new page of the same kind. A new section built from scratch or a new feature is a project, and it gets quoted as one.
Can I cancel?
Any time. The site is yours, the code is yours, and everything gets handed over so nothing breaks on the way out.
